La pause sells good sandwiches. I personally never tried them but my colleagues always buy theirs from there. You can also have nice menu del dia on their terrace. The menu del dia is just as the same as anywhere else in Madrid. It is 11 euros but you get a lot for your money.

Overall good place. For a quick coffee near the hospital.. I would not go here if you are looking for a nice cafeteria… but it’s not bad for a quick pit stop.

This bar is very underrated. The staff work their socks off and have always been very helpful to a Spanish non speaker. My son rates this place the best place for a burger for price in Madrid. High praise I assure you!

I consider myself fortunate that I have known La Pausa for 23 years. Same owner and staff. Great for: breakfast; the second breakfast; apperitivo; lunch (Menu del Dia) - or a cocktail at intermission during an orchestral concert. The owner leads with integrity- somewhat representative of an excellent neighborhood bar in Madrid - with very high quality - for numerous daily rituals. Consistent excellence.
